Lady Chatterley
First, before I attempt any profound discussion, Parkin (the movie version of Mellors) looks like a freaking linebacker from European Football League. With that out of my system, the movie version seemed a lot less sexual than the book. For some reason, I was able to imagine more of the passion than actually seeing it. There was less shock because the movie was tame by today's standards of sex. I will say Parkin looked more "meaty" and physical than the picture of him I had in my head from the novel. I loved his line where he says, "What more need is there for words?" after they started their affair. It was also much easier to see the split between mind and body in the movie because Connie was always involved in some conversation whereas Parkin seemed wrapped up in the physical touch and proximity of the sex. His isolation was much more tangible in the movie for some reason as well. It just seemed like he was more alone in the woods than in the book where he had a mother and daughter. The fact that the child would automatically go to Clifford also helped underscore his loneliness except for the connection through Connie.
